It’s been a lovely week for eating, don’t you agree? Little Miss A agrees.

She is getting better and better at getting food into her mouth. We’re still not there with the pincer grip, but every once in a while she has a lucky grab, and if she can hold it until it reaches her mouth, the reward is handsome. Her strategy for the majority of her bites involves a lot of handfuls of whatever is in front of her and about quarter of that actually makes it into her mouth. She also throws in a little table licking to keep things interesting. We will obviously work on this later but for now, I’m just happy that she loves exploring her food and she’s getting better at chewing (still no teeth).

This week brought a lot of interesting foods to sample. Monday was tatertot casserole which introduced A to tots, ground beef, whole peas and cheddar cheese. On Tuesday, A enjoyed enchiladas, refried beans, avocado and rice.  Wednesday J had curling and I wasn’t super hungry so A and I ate leftovers. Thursday and Friday were a mish mosh of things from our refrigerator that were soft enough/small enough that they didn’t present a choking hazard. I bought the match stick carrots and steamed those up. Shredded cheddar. Blueberries cut in halves or quarters.  Deli turkey. Saturday A went crazy over Apple Pancakes (I’ll be blogging that recipe tomorrow, so stay tuned!). And through all this, we also continued giving A her purees, with small chunks of super soft veggies mixed in. She happily ate everything we gave her. This week the plan is pasta (maybe chicken parm if I’m not lazy- so probably not), chicken with puff pastry and pork tenderloin. Thursday is my usual late night, so that will be Daddy Special (probably purees with anything else he finds in the fridge).
