As you may have seen over the past month, we had the pleasure of spending a weekend exploring Syracuse, NY. You can read more about the activities that we enjoyed here, but today I want to tell you about our experience staying the Embassy Suites in Syracuse, NY.

Convenient Location for Syracuse Hotels

Before I even talk about this gorgeous hotel, let me start by saying one of the major perks is it’s location. IT’s conveniently located right across the street from Destiny, USA the huge Syracuse Mall that I discussed in depth in my last post. They have a convenient walkway built so that you don’t even have to worry about crossing the busy street!

There’s so much to do at this great mall that you really don’t even have to leave the hotel and mall area. But if you are wanted to get out and explore more of this great city, they offer a free shuttle to certain locations. Most things to do are within a 10 mile radius of the Embassy Suites and parking is free.

The Embassy Suites lobby and common areas

When you enter the lobby at the Embassy Suites, you’re immediately taken in by the spacious lobby. It’s quite grand with high ceilings and contemporary and trend decor, but also very warm and inviting. Checking in was quick and easy and the friendly staff was really happy to help us and had some great recommendations for Destiny USA.

They were also quite helpful later in the evening when I went down to get some sinus medicine for my husband as well as some tooth brushes for us (we realized that we forgot out toothbrushes). It was quite obvious in every staff interaction that their top priority was going above and making sure that guests are happy and putting our needs above all else. Every single interaction with the staff was really great and left us all feeling so welcome and appreciated.

There is plenty of seating in the lobby area along with a big screen TV and a Wii, which families were enjoying every time we were in the lobby. There is a bar that had a sign about their sweet happy hour when were were staying there. There is also a restaurant next to the lobby and bar (it’s all pretty open) which offers a killer complimentary breakfast, which I’ll discuss a little later.

The 2 Room Suite

We really loved the two room suite that we stayed in. It was extremely spacious and quite comfortable for our family of four. It was also laid out in a very logical way. We had a suite in the corner of the hotel. While I’m not sure if the non-corner suites vary in layout, this particular room had us walk in with the option to turn right to go into the bathroom and through that into the bedroom. The other option was to go straight and turn into the living room which then also led into the other entrance to the bedroom.

Our bedroom had two queen beds in the bedroom as well as a sleeper sofa in the living room. This was perfect for us because our girls typically go to bed at 8pm and J and I aren’t usually ready to go to sleep that early. Traveling with kids isn’t easy and it was really great to be able to keep them on some version of our routine at home and get them to bed closer to their bedtime without having to tiptoe around them.  There were also televisions in the living room and bedroom.

The suite also had a wet bar with a small refrigerator and microwave. Everything was totally modern and up-to-date and the room was immaculately clean. The bathroom was especially large and cleanly styled. It was nice not having to step over a tub like some older hotels. It was a gorgeous room that we were very happy to call home for our stay.

Embassy Suites Amenities

I regret that we weren’t able to enjoy the beautiful indoor pool that the Embassy Suites has. It looked really nice and seemed like a great place to cool off and play with your kids. They also have a great fitness center if you want to maintain your workout regimen. For those conducting business there is a 24 hour business center and laundry service is also available. I’m told they also have excellent conference spaces as well.

Dining at the Embassy Suites

One of my favorite things about our stay at the Embassy Suites was the fantastic and complimentary breakfast that is included in your stay. Now, I’m not talking about the typical complimentary breakfasts that you find at most hotels. You know the ones where they put out some bagels and yogurt and if you’re really lucky perhaps they’ll have powdered eggs? No way!

This was a fantastic breakfast spread that I would have happily spent good money to enjoy. They had a made-to-order omelette station (so good!!), an oatmeal station with every topping you can think of, plenty of fresh fruit and side dish options. For beverages there were an assortment of juices, milk, hot tea and some darn good coffee!

The food was all delicious and of excellent quality. The service (as with every area of the hotel) was fantastic, with all of the employees and management eager to please.

We seriously enjoyed our time at the Embassy Suites Syracuse and will definitely be returning. Everything about our stay was exceptional and I would highly recommend this, especially for a family.
