Let me preface this post by saying that this is a quick fix. This is not meant to be a permanent fix, but it is working great for us for now. We are by no means DIY experts and I encourage you to do your research before attempting to fix broken items in your home.
One day about a month ago, J pointed out a crack in the door to our lazy susan in the kitchen. I have no idea how or when this actually happened, though I suspect that it's my own fault because I frequently leave the lazy susan open.

Let's take a closer look:
A whole new door is simply not in the budget and likely won't be a for a while. But we needed to do something about that pesky crack. Luckily, J is brilliant and came up with a nice little quick fix in the form of these lovely mending plates:
J got to work drilling them into the place and I was happy to assist by holding the door in place so that the crack was a tightly shut as possible. My fixing skills are limited, so I was happy to even be able to assist.

J ultimately ended up using 2 of the mending plates and I'm happy to report that the cabinet looks as good as new- there is a tiny shadow of a crack but you can only really see it if you're looking for it.
Hopefully this will last for a decent amount of time- Eventually I'd imagine it will need to be replaced but we will definitely keep this quick fix in place as long as we can! This can totally be used for fixing a cracked cabinet door as well.
What quick fixes have you made lately?
