2016 Personal Word of the Year: Persistence

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season, I know we did! I cannot believe that it’s 2016 already- boy, did that go by fast! So here we are, in a brand new year. Everyone is setting their goals and resolutions. As some of you may remember, I did that last year. And then you didn’t hear too much else about it.

As you can probably imagine, I failed miserably at many of these these things for a variety of reasons. But above all else, I got caught up in the craziness of life and lost my focus. Life happens, as we all know and I fear I may have set myself up to fail by setting a ton of really big goals. Life isn’t about a series of home runs, you make small progress and reach small goals on your way to the big ones.

So this year, instead of once again making a ton of resolutions that I may or may not stick to, I’ve decided to assign a word to this year and bring myself back to it so that I can stay focused on making those small bits of progress as I reach for bigger goals.
My 2016 Personal Word of the Year: Persistence

After thinking about it a bit, I’ve chosen Persistence. Persistence is basically continuing an action plan, even when things get difficult. This is something I already strive to do. But I also know that while this year is going to bring some really happy, exciting and positive things my way, these things will bring their own set of challenges and it will be up to me to push through and keep reaching towards the goals that I’ve set for all of the different areas in my life.

There are some big things coming up and I am working on some action plans for them (some with the blog, others with my personal life). I’m really excited to see what this year has in store for us and I wish all of you a happy and healthy New Year!

January 6, 2016 at 10:06 am I think you've picked a great word and good luck! I know it may sound bad but my word(s) are Self Love. Somewhere between the last few years i've fallen out of love with myself, so it's time to change that. Leslie recently posted...Another Day At WorkMy Profile
